President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Greece, Nikos Dendias, to discuss the improvement of bilateral relations, the process of European integration of Serbia, economic cooperation, the covid-19 pandemic related situation and other regional issues of importance for both sides.

President Vučić expressed satisfaction with the ascending trend in relations and cooperation between the two countries, which have reached the highest level and have the character of a strategic partnership.

"I am convinced that today's visit will make a strong contribution to the continuity of the political dialogue between Serbia and Greece and further strengthening of cooperation in all segments, as well as better and more specific identification of topics of common interest for our fraternal nations," said President Vučić and added that Serbia is preparing in a serious and dedicated manner for the Fourth Meeting of the High Council for Cooperation between Serbia and Greece, to be held in Belgrade as soon as the epidemiological conditions allow it.



Speaking about economic cooperation, President Vučić expressed high satisfaction that Greece remains one of the largest investors in our economy with about 2.2 billion euros of investments in various areas.

President Vučić also thanked Greece for its continuous support to Serbia in the European integration process, and for its intensive engagement within the Union to implement a more active enlargement policy.

"We believe that the soonest possible integration of all Southeast European countries into the EU is the only true guarantee for lasting and sustainable stabilisation of the entire region," said Minister Dendias, emphasising that Greece will continue to intensively support Serbia's European path.

President Vučić pointed out that Serbia highly appreciates the principled and well-known Greek position on this issue, as well as its active engagement in accelerating the process of European integration of Serbia and other countries in the region.

Talking about the continuation of the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština, the President emphasised that reaching a compromise solution is the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.

Speaking about current issues in the region, President Vučić pointed out that Serbia is interested in developing good neighbourly relations in the region as the principal precondition for stability and economic progress.

In that sense, the interlocutors agreed that in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic as well, cooperation between the countries of the region is of the utmost importance, because the disease that the whole world is facing has brought some of the greatest challenges in all spheres of life.

President Vučić and Minister Dendias stated that Serbia and Greece are making great efforts in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, and expressed expectation that the epidemiological situation will soon stabilise, both in the region and across the world.

Minister Dendias congratulated Serbia on the extremely successful process of immunisation of the population and added that he expects that successful vaccination will create conditions to enable the travel of Serbian tourists in the upcoming tourist season while respecting epidemiological measures.
